RESEARCHER ASSOCIATE

As a Research Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to the advancement of research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This position will involve research animal contact and may involve human specimens.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Applies scientific principles to the solution of critical issues; evaluating approaches to unforeseen or novel problems.
- Assimilates the details and significance of various scientific analyses and procedures. Independently performs assigned projects with direction only as to the general result expected. Communicates findings via recognized publications and scientific meetings.
- Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals. Runs cell culture, flow cytometry and isolation of primary cells.
- Maintain mouse colony and perform genotyping
- Order supplies for the laboratory
- Work with graduate students to assist with completion of in vitro and in vivo experiments for publication.
- Collects, enters, and summarizes data.
- Monitors results; detects and reports unusual outcomes. May be required to arrange grant proposals for new funding, preparing and editing of grant applications and manuscripts.
- Assists in the maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment and supplies. Performs basic statistical data analysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
- On the job training is available, but candidates with prior experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques such as purification of nucleic acids, quantitative real-time PCR, and immunoblotting, even if exposure is only through laboratory coursework, are preferred.
- Prior experience with mouse colony management is preferred.
- Previous experience in a basic science lab is preferred.

Hourly Range: $19.80-$32.15
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field
And two (2) years of related experience
OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required.
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
