The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Nutrition Sciences Research, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I.
The Nutrition for Precision Health Study aims to understand individual responses to food to help prevent and fight health conditions affected by nutrition. The Nutrition for Precision Health study is an NIH Common Fund program consisting of three Modules with multiple recruitment sites across the country. This position will support the recruitment of participants and coordination of study activities for Module 1 and Module 3. Module 1 is an observational study where we will collect measurements over 8-10 days to characterize an individual's dietary intake, nutritional status, and physiological responses following a meal challenge. Module 3 is a Live-In study and consists of three controlled dietary interventions, each provided for 14 days, while the individual is housed on-site at the Lakeshore Foundation campus. This position will assist with data collection at the clinic visits and supervising the study participant's meal times during the Live-In periods.
General Responsibilities
- To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.
- To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.
- To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
- To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages clinic visits for data collection. This will include scheduling times for assessments with clinic staff, delegating data collection tasks to staff members, administering surveys to participants, and reviewing paper source documents and electronic data capture forms for completeness.
- Monitors study participants while housed on-site for protocol compliance in Module 3. This will include monitoring during set meal times to ensure compliance with study diets, checking time in and out of the exercise facility, checking in and out visitors, and ensuring no outside food or drink is consumed.
- Communicates with metabolic kitchen to coordinate food pick-up/drop-off, any necessary food weigh-backs, or any necessary calorie adjustments in Module 3.
- Conducts recruitment and enrollment activities into Module 1, including sending emails to provide study information, calling people to complete pre-screen interviews, and conducting informed consent visits on Zoom.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range: $43,890 - $71,320
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field.
