Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Psych - Behavioral Neurobiology, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II. The Sleep, Circadian, and Neuroimaging (SCN) lab is looking for a clinical research coordinator (Level II) with experience managing complex clinical trials to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and data integrity in clinical research. The responsibilities encompass implementing clinical research protocols, managing daily lab operations, training junior staff, including student assistants, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and coordinating with clinical and research teams.

General Responsibilities

  • To serve as primary coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.
  • To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance. May provide assistance to other coordinators in review of study documents.
  • To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) throughout the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, collecting and recording data, scheduling visits and coordinating lab and fieldwork.
  • To serve as a mentor to junior staff, including student assistants.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Laboratory Operations Management Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth and efficient lab functioning.
  2. Implement clinical research protocols, manage clinical trial operations, and handle patient recruitment, screening, and retention.
  3. Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering, stocking, and tracking supplies.
  4. Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
  5. Implement improvements to lab processes and workflows.
  6. Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance.
  7. Ensure adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), IRB, and FDA regulations.
  8. Maintain detailed records for audits and inspections.
  9. Implement and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
  10. Ensure ethical handling and processing of biological samples and data.
  11. Data management.
  12. Maintain accurate and secure records of clinical data and sample processing.
  13. Implement systems for tracking and managing data entry and storage.
  14. Budgeting and Resource Management Develop and manage the laboratory's budget.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $81,330

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
