Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Nutrition Sciences Research, is seeking a skilled Researcher V. The Researcher V position will help conduct and produce nutrition interventions within the UAB Dept. Nutrition Sciences. Monitors outcomes, develops and implements modifications and provides reports or other consultation to management. This would include, but not be limited to, working within metabolic kitchens to assemble, prepare, and distribute meals and snacks for clinically controlled feeding studies using specialized equipment.
General Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the overall operation of the lab and to oversee projects within the lab.
- To contribute to the design, interpretation and writing of grant proposals and publications.
- To supervise a research team, direct and teach lab practices and to manage lab equipment and supplies.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with nutrition analysis from 24-hour recalls, Food Frequency Questionnaires, and other nutrition data collection as needed.
- Performs food safety and sanitation duties.
- Work alongside other staff and students to meet the needs of multiple clinical controlled feeding studies.
- Analyzes nutrition status of meals and assist in the creation and testing of menus that meet the needs of clinical controlled feeding study protocols.
- Assists with quality improvement assessments.
- Assumes significant responsibility for overall operation of lab in the sense of all dietary protocols, adherence, RDN training.
- Contributes significantly to publications, presentations and grant writing and IRB submissions for new studies.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $49,004.80 - $95,500
Qualifications
Qualifications
Doctorate in a related field and one (1) year of related experience OR Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field.
- Previous experience working in food service or with food service managers, experience with cooking and dietary interventions, and ability to communicate effectively and independently.
- Experience or interest working in nutrition research, research, or clinical trials.
