Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an ACADEMIC RECRUITER & EVENTS COORDINATOR-SOO to work under the general direction of the Student Affairs Assistant Director, the position will identify, engage, and recruit the best and brightest students for the School of Optometry Professional Program. The position is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the recruitment program. This includes conducting recruitment events, traveling to undergraduate universities and maintaining communications with prospective applicants, and applicant advisors. The position will also plan school-wide special events such as White Coat Ceremony, Hooding and Convocation Ceremony, Graduate Awards Night, and others as deemed necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. In conjunction with the Students Affairs leadership, develop strategic recruitment plans for the School of Optometry, for the traditional program to include the website and print materials.

2. Develop strategic partnerships with universities across the country through which recruitment pools can be tapped in to. Travel to undergraduate universities to make presentations to student groups, meet with pre-health advisors, build and maintain relationships encourage interest in UABSO, attend college fairs, offer office hours on campus and conduct mock interviews. Participate in other recruitment activities as needed.

3. Promote the expansion of pre-optometry clubs in high schools and universities across the country.

4. Maintain up-to-date recruitment data to identify trends and update strategic recruitment plans.

5. Stay current on the academic requirements of the school, curriculum offered, graduation requirements, license requirements, and current job market trends.

6. Create targeted communication plans and materials, advise applicants and prospective students, answer inquiries.

7. Participate in the recruitment budget creation, adhere to the budget, advise when updates are needed.

8. Plan school-wide special events to include White Coat Ceremony, Convocation and Hooding Ceremony and Graduate Awards Night. Coordinate with venders, department representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of these events. Create detailed event plans, maintain open communication to ensure students, faculty and staff are aware of event plans and updates in a timely manner.

9. Develop and implement student recruitment events and tours to include the Super Saturday Interview Day, New Student Spring Visit, and other recruitment events as needed.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

(Annual Salary: $45,395 - $73,770)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
