Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Neurology Stroke Division is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II. This position performs data/chart abstraction and clinical trial management for UAB Stroke Service. This position will require staff to be available early mornings, late evenings/nights, and weekends for optimal study recruitment as needed and planned by the division's rotating coordinator on-call list.

General Responsibilities

  • To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.
  • To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.
  • To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Conducts all study activities in accordance with the protocol, IRB regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  2. Assists with the life cycle of the clinical trial from study start-up through trial maintenance to study closure.
  3. Coordinates and organizes patient care including recruitment, screening, scheduling, consenting, conducting visits, and collecting various assessments such as adverse event (AE) information or questionnaires.
  4. Performs the informed consent process following GCP.
  5. Performs chart abstraction activities.
  6. Screens all patients on stroke service and consult services daily and document on the screening log; log all screen failures into WebDCU.
  7. Discusses studies with potential patients- in person, by phone, and/or by email.
  8. Consents study patients and or legal representatives, document and provide a copy to the patient.
  9. Completes CRFs in WebDCU for baseline, follow-ups, and adverse events.
  10. Prepares and maintains patient study binders.
  11. Prepares and maintains regulatory binders for all studies.
  12. Attends StrokeNet study-specific as well as Coordinator meetings and webinars.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $81,330

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

  • Prior clinical research experience.
