Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Researcher Senior to conduct experiments and analyses in research areas designated by the Principal Investigator, and assist with routine laboratory needs. The individual will be expected to work with minimal supervision for defined tasks and is expected to perform some assignments independently which include but are not limited to: conducting experiments; collecting, entering and summarizing data; monitoring results, and reporting unusual outcomes. Key Duties and Responsibilities As directed: To independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data carefully and systematically To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies To assist with purchase orders and fiscal tracking/management To develop and improve techniques for the lab Routine duties for experiments: DNA and RNA extraction, in preparation for sequencing Bacterial cultures and colony counting (CFU) DNA cloning (ligation/transformation), transfection/transduction qPCR and gel electrophoresis Organizes and tabulates data while ensuring quality control of data collection Other laboratory care and data collection/analysis duties: General laboratory organization Prepares standard media, reagents and chemical solutions used for testing purposes Performs preparation/labeling of tubes for specimen collection Processes, organizes, maintains, and records the appropriate storage of specimens Updates laboratory databases Performs regular inventory of common laboratory supplies and reagents Stocks reagents and shelves when needed Maintains safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment and areas Laboratory equipment maintenance Clearly communicates results to project lead or PI Maintains functional lab-related electronic records of activities and data Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications, minimum education, and previous experience: The candidate should possess at minimum: PhD degree in a related field with related research experience OR Master's degree in a related field with at least two (2) years of directly related experience in a laboratory (academia or industry) context OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years in a laboratory (academia or industry) context Previous experience should include that related to job duties, with demonstrated knowledge and skills. Previous experience using the experimental techniques is required but work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Preferences: Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a closely related field.

Annual Salary Range: $60,835 - $98,855

Qualifications

Doctorate degree in a related field

OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience

OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required.

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
