Position Summary:
The Lim lab studies intercellular signaling in the heart and the endocrine function of the heart on systemic lipid homeostasis regulation. Specific projects in the lab include (1) ROS-based paracrine signaling on proper heart function, (2) intercellular endoplasmic reticulum unfolded protein response activation in the heart, (3) the role of Tep2 in mediating a heart-to-fat metabolic axis. The candidate is expected to independently design and conduct experiments. The candidate will analyze and prepare data/figures for presentations and publications. The candidate will keep detailed records of all research related activities.
The candidate will train and guide newcomers in the lab. Technical responsibilities: Fly stock maintenance, fly crosses set up, progeny selection, fly dissection and tissue isolation, immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging, semi-heart preparation and optical heart beat imaging, SDS-PAGE electrophoresis and Western blot analysis, blood and tissue proteomic analysis, biochemical and metabolic assays, molecular biology.
This professional-level role involves mentoring junior researchers, managing project budgets, and ensuring the integrity and quality of research outcomes. Your expertise will be critical in guiding experimental design, data interpretation, and contributing to high-impact publications. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Salary Range: $60,835 - $98,855
Qualifications
Doctorate degree in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
