Position Summary:
To oversee and exercise significant authority for post award research operations supporting multiple departments within the Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM) Finance Shared Services unit requiring comprehensive knowledge of principles, procedures and practices specific to post award administration, financial analysis and budgeting. To supervise departmental operations and activities including but not limited to approval and processing of progress reports, invoices, financial reports, and budgets. To make decisions regarding the reporting and use of financial resources. To provide oversight with financial analysis and projections to departments ensuring spending aligns with budgets and sponsor guidelines.
To ensure proper accounting for all state, grant, contract and/or revenue accounts related to the research mission. To provide post award guidance to assigned staff. To develop and monitor departmental post award policies and procedures. To liase with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Grants and Contracts Accounting, Sponsoring Agencies and Investigators. To act as the point of contact with partnering post award departments providing higher-level research support and guidance. To supervise post award office staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs post award staff on account creating, budget adherence and appropriate funding allocations as well as adherence to the expenditures and providing guidance for residual funds use.
- Develops reports and compiles financial data to assist and to advise the Director and Department leaders in decision making.
- Provides resource management, budgets and projections for Post Award Shared Services research related activities.
- Oversees expenditure approval and personnel action approval for partnering departments, including but not limited to approval of disbursement requisitions, internal requisitions and ACT documents processed by post award officers.
- Provides post-award fiscal management and documentation to support programmatic activities.
- Develops and maintains financial / budgetary systems to monitor expenses.
- Works with partnering departments engaged in the fiscal operations of the unit as it serves the clinical, research and academic mission of the enterprise.
- Serves as liaison between Investigators, Departments, HSOM, OSP, and Grants and Contracts Accounting.
- Assists in the oversight of partner department operations including effort reporting assignments.
- Assists with strategic planning, information systems management, administrative and programmatic aspects for HSOM Post Award Shared Services
- Develops reports and compiles financial data to assist and to advise the Director and Department leaders in decision making.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $85,600 - $139,100
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
