JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Associate Director of Student Counseling Services is the administrative leader of student counseling, responsible for leadership, administration, consultation and supervision of the counseling, including counselors, and serves as a liaison to the campus, as well as community mental health programs. This position also provides counseling to UT Health Science Center students, provides crisis response intervention (both to individual students and campus-wide crises) in collaboration with the CARE Team, and provides consultation to students, staff, and faculty as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruits, orients, and establishes workloads and supervises the counseling staff; evaluates performance annually.
- Monitors quality and evaluates the effectiveness of counseling programs.
- Provides for and monitors staff development and continuing education; participates in the training and supervision of practicum students.
- Provides individual and group counseling.
- Partners with the CARE Team for crisis response intervention as needed, including individuals, groups, and campus-wide interventions.
- Provides consultation to staff, faculty, administration, parents, and students in collaboration with case managers.
- Represents Student Counseling Services, as needed, on University committees and boards; including the Care Team, System-wide Mental Health committees, and other mental health initiatives.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with other UT campus counseling centers, community practitioners, and program/community resources.
- Participates as a member of the Student Success leadership team.
- Assesses campus counseling needs in cooperation with other campus resources.
- Participates in training new faculty and student leaders concerning the mental health needs of the students and the services offered.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience with at least two (2) years in a college campus counseling environment; OR Bachelor’s Degree and seven (7) years of experience with at least two (2) years in a college campus counseling environment.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider (LPC/MHSP), Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Professional (LCP), or equivalent in the State of Tennessee or license eligible. (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
