Material Trades Worker I - Roofing
The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
Position Summary:
Picks up and delivers materials and supplies to various job locations on and off the UAB campus. Assists craftsmen in completion of their duties by performing physical labor tasks such as sweeping, mopping, demolition, driving dump trucks, dump truck loading, carrying materials, pickup, delivery and cleaning cabinets, installation of cove base and ceiling tiles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assisting roofers during the application or repair of roofing materials.
- Unload materials, cleans off roof, applies roofing material, and cleans site after job is complete.
Starting Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 (Commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (subject to change to meet the needs of the University).
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to work independently
- Organizational skills
- Ability to maintain a good driving record
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to read, write and understand basic instructions
Personal:
MVR: Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Physical: Possess the necessary physical requirement, with or without the aid of mechanicald evices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of the position to include:
- Lifting, carrying and moving a minimum of ninety (90) pounds
- Perform tasks requiring bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus
- Working within extreme temperature ranges
- Working in the rain and in unfavorable weather conditions, hot, cold, wet, etc.
- Working in confined spaces
