Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of General Internal Med & Population Science, is seeking a Researcher II. The Researcher II serves as a study team member for data collection and recording, providing assistance with multiple research studies for a research team that interacts with research participants; collects interview and questionnaire data; contributes to complex data sets; conducts literature searches; identifies themes and writes summaries of participant focus groups/interviews; and maintains current CITI certification. This position involves travel within a 30-minute radius of UAB campus. This position requires interface between patients and community partners within community-based research. This requires soft-skills and collaboration with oversight from the principal investigator.

General Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision:

  • To set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals.
  • To collect, enter and summarize data.
  • To monitor results and report unusual outcomes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Contacts potential study participants via telephone to ascertain verbal consent to release name and contact information for further contact determining eligibility and interest in study participation.
  2. Collects data for multiple research studies; includes planning and scheduling data collection with participants.
  3. Contributes to study-related data records and literature reviews.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Hourly Salary Range $15.50 - $23.51

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
  • OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
