The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Med - Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, is seeking a Researcher II. This position will be working to support the Basu Research Laboratory and may require weekend and night work for research studies.
General Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision:
- To set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals.
- To collect, enter and summarize data.
- To monitor results and report unusual outcomes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
- In addition to general laboratory research, isotope work and HLCH mass spectrometry may be needed.
- Collects, enters, summarizes and analyzes data.
- Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications.
- Develops and improves techniques for the lab and contributes to planning/design of studies.
- Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
- May assist in planning long or short-term goals/fiscal management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly Salary Range $15.50 - $23.51
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
- OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
- Bachelor’s in chemistry or a related field preferred.
- Experience in isotope work and HPLC Mass Spectrometry preferred, but not required.
