CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, to perform alcohol and drug screening for court-ordered clients at Family Court UAB drug screening lab.
  • May perform various clerical and/or lab duties as requested.
  • Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages 12 through geriatric.
  • Performs clerical tasks as requested including, but not limited to scheduling, maintaining patient health data, communication with internal programs, and managing needed supplies.
  • Collection of payment for lab services as required.
  • Maintaining court orders and DHR billing forms as needed for monthly billing.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics

  • Comfortable with data entry into a software program.
  • Comfortable dealing with bodily fluids as required for drug testing.
  • Ability to adhere to accepted protocols/procedures.
  • Ability to work in a communal office setting with other lab staff.
  • Able to communicate effectively and efficiently, reliable, and flexible.
  • Urinalysis Collections and Disposal according to UAB protocol.
  • MVR NEEDED

Salary Range: $15.00-$23.55

Qualifications

Education

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Currently certified as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Health career Association (NHA) required.
  • If certified by another accrediting agency, AAMA or NHA certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.
