PROGRAM MANAGER I
University of Alabama at Birmingham
This position is responsible for administratively managing a University department under the general direction of a functional Program Director or under the auspices of a Program Advising Committee and according to an established program plan. May participate in the development of program objectives and is responsible for achieving objectives within defined parameters set by University and/or department policies and procedures or technical principles. May require fiscal management of grants and other funds. May manage multiple programs. Requires the use of independent judgment to determine the best approach to accomplish objectives established in the program plan. May supervise staff as needed.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Reviewing articles submitted for completeness and meeting journal formatting/editing standards
- Working with Elsevier (publisher) on seeing papers through the editorial process after acceptance
- Working with faculty who submit or are reviewing papers to troubleshoot any problems with the Elsevier system for submitting papers and reviews including merging or changing email addresses in the system, etc
- Working with the Editor to help assign articles to Associate Editors, monitoring the journal email to triage issues submitted, answer questions, etc
- Set up monthly meetings with the leadership team and take notes during the meeting
- Plan events and liaison with our community partners
- Work with the web group to submit updates to the website
- Post through the center social media accounts (FB, Insta, X) about upcoming events, news, etc.
- Assist in writing progress reports for annual review by the VPR's office
- Help provide admin support for pilot awards
- Ordering/shipping supplies P-card designee and reconciliation of p-card purchases Scheduling meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $43,890 - $71,320
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- And two (2) years of related experience required.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
