Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director for Strategic Planning, to manage and to coordinate national searches in partnership with internal and external partners for senior leadership positions and strategic positions within the Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM) with the goal to recruit exceptional candidates. To direct the administrative and operational affairs of the strategic recruitment office for the HSOM and speaks on its behalf. To operate with a high degree of independence. To oversee and analyze/forecast content and administration of the office. To establish objectives, manage fiscal activities, supervise and direct staff. To prepare and present various reports. To assist with strategic planning in HSOM recruitment efforts including alignment with strategic priority areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of the Executive Director for Strategic Planning, manages and coordinates strategic recruitment activities for the HSOM. This includes the recruitment of senior leaders (e.g., dean-level positions, department chairs) and leading recruitment of faculty for areas of strategic importance (e.g., cancer, neurosciences, diabetes, etc.).
- Oversees the strategic recruitment team to ensure the successful planning, implementation, completion, and evaluation of recruitment searches through the development of policies, procedures, education, and communications.
- Throughout each search, monitors progress, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Following searches, soliciting feedback from candidates, senior leaders and collaborators about their experience and implement changes to improve the process.
- Identifies and resolves gaps in processes and/or operations.
- Serves as a liaison with important partners including but not limited to the UAB Health System, the Chalker Group, other UAB Schools, and national search firms.
- Develops and implements a communication strategy
- Oversees the strategic recruitment team as they serve as the primary contact for candidates.
- Works with Executive Director for Strategic Planning and senior leaders to develop and execute candidate interviews and visits.
- With the team, serves as an ongoing resource for candidates including responding to communications in an efficient and timely manner.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of and ensures compliance with all institutional policies, procedures and federal guidelines.
- Influence best practices in faculty recruiting across the HSOM.
- In partnership with the Dean, Executive Officer, and Executive Director for Strategic Planning, identifies, negotiates with and secures national search firm services serving as their primary point of contact throughout the search and selection process.
- Works with HSOM leaders to identify and secure search committee leadership and members, serving as their primary point of contact throughout the search and selection process.
- Works closely with Human Resources, the Dean's Leadership Team, and other key stakeholders on position management, job advertising, and candidate sourcing.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $85,600 - $139,100
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or a related field and ten (10) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
