Compensation:
Pay Range: $89,880 - $146,055/year

General Responsibilities
To independently employ a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in multiple fields of specialization to plan, design, implement and support UABHS healthcare data center environments. To carry out complex assignments requiring the development and planning of new or improved techniques, best practices, procedures, and to facilitate the establishment of standards that guide the utilization and capacity of all UABHS data centers. To provide senior expertise on decisions and prioritization regarding UABHS data centers. To function as the primary on-call contact, and to manage both routine and emergency service on a variety of critical systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. | Leads the planning, design and execution of vital data center architecture dedicated to supporting, monitoring, and alerting. Employs specialized software alongside hands-on oversight to effectively monitor and administer diverse healthcare data center environments encompassing cabling, power distribution, servers, and associated equipment, while also managing environmental factors critical to operational integrity across UABHS. Contributes to the formulation, enhancement, and implementation of comprehensive disaster recovery strategies across all UABHS data center facilities. | |
2. | Provides oversight for routine and emergency services on a variety of critical clinical/healthcare systems housed in data center environments. Functions as the primary on-call contact for data center emergencies and works closely with other infrastructure teams on schedules and oversees contractors and vendors providing services on structures or equipment in all the data center. | |
3. | Maintains accountability and responsibility of the functions provided by each assigned piece of equipment to maximize its benefit for the IT equipment supported by the data center. Assist with implementation and enforce security measures to protect data center assets. | |
4. | Acts as data center subject matter expert (SME). Demonstrates technical proficiency in data center operations, electrical engineering, develops improvement plans and presents information to customers and/or IT leadership and stakeholders. Performs ongoing audits and visual assessments of each data center environment and submits reports to IT leadership on a quarterly basis. | |
5. | Maintains documents and knowledge of power supply and capacity, balancing power and cooling, and other related factors for a data center environment. | |
6. | Provides oversight for administrative functions of the data centers. Develops and updates data center standards and guidelines, maintains inventories, tracks equipment, and submits supply orders. | |
7. | Performs other duties as assigned. |
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience maintaining multiple data centers required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
