Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Engineering is seeking a PROGRAM MANAGER II. The Program Manager II position is responsible for administratively managing the Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering programs in the School of Engineering. This position will provide assistance to the department chair, faculty, staff, students, the program directors of the on-campus and online graduate programs, and the undergraduate program director. This position will require supervision of small support staff that are there to assist in some administrative capacity.
Responsibilities include budgeting, networking and public relations, technical training and assistance, report writing, and event planning.
  • Provide administrative program assistance to department chair, faculty, staff, and students. This includes processing all employee and student reimbursements, requisitions, and purchase orders. Manage and reconcile all P-Card Transactions.
  • Manage department personnel needs such as: Assist Department Chair with compiling all information for annual reviews. Assist with the Faculty Promotion and Tenure packages. Assists Department Chair with new hires on open faculty and staff positions. Develops draft itinerary for a candidate visit, books hotel room, and then reimburses candidates on any expenses. Routinely process adjunct faculty, staff, and student worker/trainee appointment letters and personnel transaction (ACT) documents. Process all secondary graduate faculty appointments. Coordinate with Office of International Faculty and Staff Immigration Services (IFSIS) to prepare immigration documents for faculty and postdoctoral researchers. Coordinate with Office of Postdoctoral Education in helping faculty in hiring postdoctoral researchers.
  • Supervise office workers and teaching assistants.
  • Manage Campus Time and Attendance for hourly employees.
  • Initiate review of applications to the CCEE programs. Work closely with the Graduate School and Graduate Program Directors involving communication on decisions regarding CCEE admissions; Organize student records and compose forms for Graduate Program Directors, Undergraduate Program Director, and faculty in preparation for advising appointments.
  • Maintain relationships between department and Dean's office, alumni, advisory board, campus departments and vendors; Help in event planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
(Annual Salary: $51,270 - $83,300)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
