The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Cardiovascular Disease, is seeking a Researcher II.

General Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision:

  • To set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals.
  • To collect, enter and summarize data.
  • To monitor results and report unusual outcomes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals.
  2. Runs assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc.
  3. Collects, enters, and summarizes data.
  4. Monitors results; detects and reports unusual outcomes.
  5. Assists in the maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment and supplies.
  6. Performs basic statistical data analysis.
  7. Animal care and preparation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  8. Maintenance, genotyping, and Sato lab colony management.
  9. Preparation of experimental materials.
  10. Aiding in in vivo mouse work (cardiac functional and biochemical analysis).
  11. Assistance with histology, molecular methods, and surgical implantation of catheters in mice. Assistance in laboratory management.
  12. Supervision and help of other lab trainees.
  13. Participate in lab meetings and scientific discussions.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Hourly Range $15.50 - $23.51

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
  • OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
