CLINICAL RESEARCH COORDINATOR I - (T217575)

Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Neurology Chair Office, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I.

This position will work with other members of the Community Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement Core to organize, coordinate, and attend all community outreach activities for the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). Examples of previous experience/skills desired include, but not limited to, experience with community events and activities with a focus on minority outreach, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms, and being detail-orientated with the ability to provide information to community members on and manage multiple projects at a time. Primary effort will be aimed at developing and implementing initiatives that increase Center and program visibility within the community.

General Responsibilities

  • To collect and record preliminary data for clinical research programs.
  • To recruit and perform follow-up with research participants as protocols outline.
  • To schedule visits according to research protocols.
  • To assist in coordination of lab and fieldwork.
  • To maintain familiarity with appropriate Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and regulations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Plan and manage all events; including recruitment and engagement, education, retention activities, and participant appreciation events.
  2. Make phone calls, mail letters, and other forms of communication with individuals who are added to our registry and/or enroll in ADRC studies.
  3. Assists with the creation and management of budget and oversees tasks and timelines.
  4. Promote through both internal and external sources.
  5. Pay invoices and recap events to leadership.
  6. Maintain annual calendar of in-person and virtual outreach activities: Including community events, festivals, and activities in target areas, Including UAB and/or ADRC workshops, physician appearances, and other engagement opportunities, including healthcare observances that align with Core.
  7. Develop and maintain social media editorial calendar, plan and facilitate monthly Facebook LIVE Events, QAs, and video promos.
  8. Recap and provide analytics for event outcomes at monthly Core team meetings.
  9. Nurture new and old community relationships with collaborative partners.
  10. Coordinate quarterly communications including organizing a Zoom with existing and new partners.
  11. Manage recruitment and retention strategies, including electronic registry and enrollment records in REDCap.
  12. Assist Outreach Team with development of outreach materials, needs assessment, training of community advisors, and other initiatives.
  13. Organize and schedule team meetings, document action items, and share with the team in a timely manner.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $41,175 - $66,915

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Preferences

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community-driven.
  • This role will require the candidate to attend events in the evenings and on weekends. This position requires someone equipped with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player.
  • The individual needs good interpersonal and organizational skills as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ideal candidate is familiar with Microsoft office applications, data entry programs such as REDCap, and has experience preparing reports and communications.
