Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Dermatology, is seeking a Researcher V. The Researcher V will conduct Scientific research in dermatology and cutaneous diseases. Specifically, the research will focus on ultraviolet radiation induced immune suppression and cancers in the skin.
General Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the overall operation of the lab.
- To oversee projects within the lab.
- To contribute to the design, interpretation and writing of grant proposals and publications.
- To supervise a research team, direct and teach lab practices.
- To manage lab equipment and supplies.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
- Contributes to planning/design of studies.
- Collects, enters, summarizes and analyzes data.
- Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications.
- Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
- Leadership of the assigned project(s).
- Contributes to other projects through assisting trainees (e.g., postdoctoral fellows, graduate students) and faculty in the lab.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range $49,004.80 - $95,500.00
Qualifications
Doctorate in a related field and one (1) year of related experience
OR Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience
OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
- Experience with animals, benchwork, manuscript preparation, and lab maintenance.
