The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Urology, is seeking a highly motivated Researcher III.

General Responsibilities

As directed:

• To independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
• To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data.
• To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications.
• To develop and improve techniques for the lab.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
2. Develops and improves techniques for the lab.
3. Contributes to planning/design of studies.
4. Collects, enters, summarizes and analyzes data.
5. Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications.
6. May assist in planning long or short term goals/fiscal management.
7. Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range $35,570.00 - $40,000.00

• Master's degree in a related field
• OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
• OR Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

• Experience as a lab technologist.
• Familiarity with human specimen processing.
• Experience with technical assays.

Key Skills

• Computer skills including robust skills with excel, and willingness to learn to use RedCap for data entry.
• Detail-oriented, rigorous, able to adapt to changing workloads, work in teams, communicate with colleagues.
