The University of Alabama (UAB) Engineering and Technology Development (EITD) department https://www.uab.edu/engineering/eitd/ is seeking a project engineer to join our team. This position will provide the opportunity to work as part of a multi-discipline engineering team that specializes in the development of cold stowage systems for use in microgravity and space exploration. The systems developed by our team provide researchers with a means of preserving experiments in a thermally controlled environment onboard the International Space Station, as well as onboard launch and landing vehicles.
- Primary responsibilities will include the review and analysis of performance data, review performance, interface, and safety requirements, development of procedures and operations plans, and real-time interaction with NASA flight-support counterparts to provide operational overviews and troubleshooting support, as needed.
- Other responsibilities will include general support for the multi-disciplinary engineering team, in areas such as project documentation, hardware testing and data analysis, and safety and interface requirements verification.
- Work nights and weekends, as necessary, to support real time flight operations. Travel to support testing and launch/return activities for approx. 7-day periods, 5-10 trips per year possible.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
(Annual Salary: $67,070 - $108,990)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
