Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Preventive Medicine, is seeking a Researcher III to join our team. The research assistant serves as a study team member for data collection and recording, providing assistance with multiple research studies for a research team that interacts with research participants; collects interview and questionnaire data; contributes to complex data sets; conducts literature searches; identifies themes and writes summaries of participant focus groups/interviews; and maintains current CITI certification. This position involves travel within a 30-minute radius of the UAB campus.

General Responsibilities

  • To independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
  • To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data.
  • To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications.
  • To develop and improve techniques for the lab.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assists in leading daily operations and training interns and other employees as needed.
  2. Receives, processes, aliquots, labels, and stores human biological specimens.
  3. Contributes to planning/designing of studies.
  4. Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
  5. Sets up and performs established lab procedures in support of lab goals, including data management, inventory, ordering lab supplies, and creating shipments for samples.
  6. May assist in planning long or short-term goals/fiscal management.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range $35,570.00 - $59,800.00

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
  • OR Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements.

  • Previous experience in the conduct of research.
