Central Plant Repairer

Job Summary:
To assist with the basic maintenance, repair, and upkeep of central plant equipment and systems that support campus heating, cooling, and utilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Performs routine operations and preventive maintenance on chillers, refrigeration units,
plumbing components, and related equipment; assists with repairs, modifications, and
installations of associated controls and devices, including sensors, switches, meters, relays,
and thermostats.
2. Assists skilled trades in performing routine operations and preventive maintenance on
chillers, refrigeration units, and related equipment. Tasks may include inspecting motor
windings, testing amperage draws, changing oil, lubricating motors and pumps, pressure
testing systems, and inspecting or replacing gears, bearings, and fasteners. May help
prepare equipment for annual inspections, clean and recondition components such as
purge drums and cooling tower louvers, and perform housekeeping duties in the Central
Plant. Also monitors and maintains refrigerant, oil, and lubricants, and records equipment
performance and inspection results.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly Pay Range: $19.80 - $25.75
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience required.
Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current guidelines include possession of a valid driver's license issued in the United States, at least 21 years of age and at least 3 years of driving experience. Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
