NUTRITIONIST
The University of Alabama at Birmingham

General Responsibilities:
The Nutritionist will primarily provide individual and group-based nutrition counseling to participants in nutrition and weight management studies. The Nutritionist may also assist with other research-related duties such as data collection, participant communications, and other study-related administrative tasks.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provide behavior change counseling to participants enrolled in nutrition, weight loss, and weight management clinical trials.
2. Work with study participants to establish goals and monitor progress throughout the study.
3. Monitor and track participant data including anthropometrics, diet, and physical activity.
4. Communicate with study participants to ensure proper completion of data collection.
5. Screen potential research participants to assess feasibility of study participation.
6. Communicate study expectations with participants and train participants on the use of various web-based technologies to monitor weight, diet, and physical activity, and other lifestyle factors.
7. Evaluate participants' eligibility based on study criteria.
8. Manage the coordination of study activities such as scheduling study visits, communicating with participants and other study staff, preparing study materials, and tracking study progress.
9. Attend weekly study-related meetings to plan and collaborate on project activities.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Pay Range: $47,665 – $77,455

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or a related field required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferred:
Currently licensed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Alabama State Board of Examiners for Dietetics (BOED) required.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Skilled in the use of REDCap software for research data collection
• Skilled in the use of excel
• Experience with nutrition or behavioral counseling
