Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a PROJECT MANAGER II with minimal supervision, that will coordinate and manage all aspects of project management, and scheduling support for simulation operations. This position will also manage ongoing projects and timelines for Nursing Blazer simulation program activities and events, coordinates schedules, resources, and logistical needs to ensure instructional readiness and efficient use of facilities. The role communicates extensively across the School of Nursing, serving as a key liaison among faculty, academic leadership, simulation staff, lab coordinators, and administrative units. The position develops reporting, documents, and maintains standardized scheduling and coordination processes, timelines, and procedures to support consistency, transparency, and effective use of SON instructional, laboratory, and simulation resources. The direct report for this individual is the Director of Simulation Operations. All work is to be performed in accordance with School of Nursing (SON) and University guidelines, policies and procedures.
This is not a remote position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. By collaborating closely with simulation and lab leadership, serves as the primary coordinator and manager for instructional scheduling across all simulation, experiential learning, and skills lab spaces by ensuring appropriate space allocation, setup timelines, resource coordination, and alignment with instructional and program objectives in support of day to day operational readiness.
2. Develops and maintains comprehensive master schedules that align instructional priorities with physical space availability, staffing, operational constraints, and simulation and lab support requirements.
3. Facilitates planning and coordination of meetings, activities, and operational initiatives related to simulation and lab programs by maintaining standardized scheduling workflows, timelines and procedures to promote consistent and efficient scheduling practices.
4. Establishes and communicates clear scheduling guidelines and expectations for faculty, staff, and program leadership.
5. Supports communication and coordination among academic programs, simulation teams, and lab personnel to ensure shared understanding of schedules, constraints, and operational needs.
6. Provides reporting on scheduling data, space utilization, and instructional demand across simulation and lab environments to support operational planning and decision-making to include reports, summaries, and dashboards related to logistics, scheduling trends, capacity utilization and utilization to provide recommendations for future program planning
7. Manages ongoing projects and timelines for Blazer simulation program activities and events.
8. Manages end-to-end procurement of equipment and supplies, including vendor coordination and inventory control, ensuring timely availability and cost-effective operations
9. May support and assist with logistics for preparation and setup/takedown of skills and simulation experiences which includes movement of equipment.
10. Provides coordination and operational support for American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center activities, as needed
11. May direct work of other simulation lab personnel
12. Facilitates the arrangement and movement of furnishings for classrooms and lab rooms utilized when requested. Must be able to lift 50 pounds to efficiently move tables, chairs, manikins, equipment, etc. when needed.
13. Performs other routine or non-routine duties as assigned to support the mission and operational needs of the School of Nursing.
14. Ensures compliance of departmental, SON, and UAB policies and procedures.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
(Annual Salary: $52,555 - $85,400)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible administrative or Project management experience. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience coordinating complex schedules or shared resources, strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skill and high proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise scheduling tools.
Preferred:
  • Experience in higher education or academic health sciences
  • Coordinating instructional, lab, or simulation spaces
  • Project management or operations coordination training
