Description
Directs the administrative and financial affairs of a large, complex department(s) or school. Represents and speaks on behalf of the dean, chair or vice president/provost with regard to all administrative and financial matters. Responsible for financial analysis/forecasting/budgeting, personnel policy interpretation and enforcement, space and facilities planning, and grants administration. May be responsible for strategic planning and information systems management for the work unit. Establishes administrative and financial systems for department(s). May be involved in programmatic aspects of department(s). Directs staff to ensure completion of projects and proper functioning of business and program operations. Uses a variety of software in performance of the functions of the title including Microsoft Office, Oracle and others as designated by the department or school supported.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison and primary point of contact between the University administration and the Collat School of Business.
- Serve on the Dean's Leadership Team, providing executive-level financial analysis, reporting, and strategic recommendations on financial risks, resource allocation, and other critical decisions to support operational sustainability and school goals.
- Supervise and direct Business Officer I position; provide functional oversight to 5 to 10 staff members.
- Direct financial analyses and institutional reporting, revenue and expenditure projections, credit hour production trend analysis and forecasting, reconciliations, time and effort reporting certifications, and required surveys (e.g., HERD, Space), ensuring accuracy and strategic alignment.
- Develop and oversee the school's annual operating budget and multi-year financial planning, including projections for all departments; monitor and analyze revenue and expenditures to ensure alignment with budget, forecasts, and institutional priorities.
- Evaluate administrative processes and implement improvements to strengthen internal controls, operational efficiency, service quality, and effectiveness.
- Prepare and present financial and operational reports to the Dean, department chairs, faculty and staff, and Provost Office Leadership.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure fiscal integrity and compliance with all applicable university, local, state, and federal guidelines, policies, processes, procedures, and regulations.
- Facilities Operational Management Oversee school facility operation, including space planning, utilization, and reporting; building maintenance issues and infrastructure projects/upgrades, equipment inventory, purchases/replacements of capital and non-capital new equipment, operational resources, and safety compliance for faculty/staff workspaces and instructional areas.
- Human Resources Management Direct and oversee human resources operations, including staffing strategy, recruitment, advertising, hiring, onboarding and offboarding, and compensation, ensuring accurate, efficient, consistent, and compliant personnel operations.
- Advise leadership on employee relations, performance management, staffing needs and changes, ensuring compliance with university policies and applicable local, state, and federal employment regulations.
- Interpret and oversee personnel policies, ensuring consistent application and adherence to institutional guidelines.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or a related field and ten (10) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
