Description
To provide high level leadership and management of the overall athletic program by assisting the Athletics Director with financial strategies, strategic planning, and key operational activities. To assist the Athletics Director with design and implementation of strategies, policies, and guidelines that promote the welfare of UAB's student-athletes and success of the overall athletic program. To provide oversight of assigned sports with duties including, but not limited to, establishing and monitoring a budget, scheduling events and contests, and ensuring adherence to NCAA and University rules and guidelines. To provide supervision, direction and leadership to the areas of academic support, student-athlete development, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and nutrition within athletics. To assist appropriate unit leaders with day-to-day operational and personnel activities.
Provides supervision, direction and leadership to functional areas within the Department of Athletics that facilitate NCAA compliance, as well as compliance with other institutional policies such as Title IX, Equal Opportunity and Discriminatory Harassment, digital accessibility, etc.. Assists appropriate Unit leader with day-to-day operational and personnel activities. Collaborate closely with the Office of Compliance Risk Assurance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides high level leadership and management of the overall athletic program by assisting the Athletics Director with financial strategies, strategic planning, and key operational activities.
2. Assists the Athletics Director with design and implementation of strategies, policies, and guidelines that promote the welfare of UAB’s student-athletes and success of the overall athletic program.
3. Provides oversight of assigned sports with duties including, but not limited to, monitoring a budget, scheduling events and contests, and ensuring adherence to NCAA and University rules and guidelines.
4. Provides supervision, direction and leadership to functional areas within the Department of Athletics that facilitate NCAA compliance, as well as compliance with other institutional policies such as Title IX, Equal Opportunity and Discriminatory Harassment, digital accessibility, etc. Assists appropriate Unit leader with day-to-day operational and personnel activities. 5. Assists in managing, monitoring and reporting of N-I-L and Rev Share activities.
6. Evaluates staff performance and provides leadership and guidance for assigned areas.
7. Provides leadership and direction to Blazer Allies and other department initiatives around access and engagement.
8. May represent the Athletics Department at appropriate university, conference, or NCAA meetings.
9. May oversee the Athletics Department in the absence of the Director of Athletics.
10. Adheres to all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
11. Reports all known violations in accordance with institutional, conference and NCAA policies and guidelines.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $123,000
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
