The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine seeks a Statistician II to function as a key statistical partner in a collaborative research environment. The successful candidate will work directly with clinical, public health, and research collaborators to shape studies from initial research questions through analysis, interpretation, publication, and grant submission. Projects are varied and may involve integrating clinical, registry, census, and geospatial data to examine how community and structural factors influence health outcomes. The role provides meaningful ownership of projects, opportunities to contribute as a scientific co-author, and exposure to research across multiple clinical and population-health areas. It is especially well suited for a biostatistician who enjoys applied research, thoughtful methodological problem-solving, clear communication with collaborators, reproducible analytic practices, and managing several evolving projects with a high degree of independence.

General Responsibilities

  • Provides statistical support for research studies by applying statistical methods and analytical expertise to advance research objectives.

  • Serves as a technical resource by collaborating with investigators, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the interpretation and communication of research findings.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Applies intermediate statistical and technical skills in the design of research studies.

  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes statistical data.

  • Performs complex statistical analyses for a broad spectrum of data and studies.

  • Evaluate research studies and recommends statistical procedures.

  • Develops and maintains specialized databases.

  • May serve as a consultant in the department or division.

  • Assists with development of grant applications, presentation of results, and scientific papers for publication.

Preferred Requirements

  • A master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field is required.

  • Three years of related experience is required.

  • Strong presentation skills are required.

  • The ability to collaborate effectively with investigators and research teams is required.

  • Candidates must be able to explain, analyze, interpret, and communicate statistical findings clearly.

  • Strong attention to data integrity and detail is essential.

  • Candidates must demonstrate sound problem-solving skills and statistical judgment.

  • The ability to serve as a technical resource or consultant is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing statistical support for research studies is preferred.

  • Experience collecting and managing research data is preferred.

  • Experience performing complex statistical analyses is preferred.

  • Experience recommending appropriate statistical methods is preferred.

  • Experience developing and maintaining research databases is preferred.

  • Experience interpreting and presenting statistical findings is preferred.

  • Experience collaborating with investigators throughout the research process is preferred.

  • Experience ensuring data integrity and quality in research projects is preferred.

  • Experience contributing statistical content to grant applications is preferred.

  • Experience preparing statistical content for presentations is preferred.

  • Experience contributing to peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts is preferred.

Salary Range: $60,835-$98,855

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's degree in Math or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required.

  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
