Description

To provide strategic leadership and coordination for complex initiatives through planning, executive communication, financial justification, and roadmap development for the Marnix E. Heersink Institute for Biomedical Innovation (MHIBI) while serving as a key liaison among cross-functional stakeholders among the Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM) and the UAB Health System. To manage and oversee projects and contracts by coordinating interdisciplinary teams, monitoring budgets and resources, defining requirements, establishing performance metrics, and ensuring effective reporting and accountability. To support governance, compliance, and operational infrastructure by facilitating approvals, aligning systems, and maintaining collaborative partnerships across organizational units. To lead and enhance academic program operations through oversight of objectives, enrollment, outcomes, budgeting, staff and faculty coordination, reporting, and recruitment strategies. To drive program growth and continuous improvement by administering performance, supporting new program development, and fostering academic collaborations to expand organizational impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Support: Strategic planning, C-suite presentations, budget justifications, and AI roadmap for UAB Health System and other departments
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Primary liaison between clinical departments, IT, finance, and executive leadership on behalf of MHIBI's Director of AI
  • Multi-Year Contracts: Manage and administer multi-year contracts for developing AI solutions across departments and the health system, including vendor negotiations and deliverable tracking Team Setup
  • Coordination: Stand up and coordinate cross-functional teams (data scientists, clinical informatics, IT, faculty) for new AI project initiatives across departments
  • Budget Resources: Monitor project budget allocation, optimize resource allocation, and provide financial reporting to AI initiative partners Requirements
  • Docs: Elicit project requirements, document workflows, define success criteria, and translate clinical needs into technical specifications
  • KPIs Reporting: Establish KPIs, maintain dashboards, and prepare executive reports for steering committees and leadership
  • AI Governance: Assist Director of AI with governance frameworks and tool deployment approvals
  • Infrastructure: Liaison between HSIS, Departments, and MHIBI for AI initiative infrastructure setup and ongoing operations
  • Direct operations of Graduate Certificate and Master of Science in AI in Medicine and Healthcare Innovation
  • Establish and track program objectives, enrollment targets, and student outcomes
  • Manage individual program budgets and fiscal reporting
  • Supervise program staff and coordinate faculty support
  • Prepare enrollment, accreditation, and outcome reports for departmental leadership
  • Lead international student recruitment strategy for STEM-designated programs
  • Administer program outcomes and management across all academic offerings
  • Assist with new academic program proposals to grow MHIBI's portfolio
  • Coordinate academic program collaborations to expand MHIBI academic portfolio
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $63,875 - $103,800

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and five(5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
