Position Summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Lasseigne Lab, in the Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology, is seeking a skilled Researcher Assistant to join their team. The Researcher Assistant will need to maintain lab supplies and a clean environment, performing lab management duties like ordering, inventory, etc. The Researcher Assistant role will record research data and assist in performing routine tests. They will also aid in proposal and manuscript preparation.

General Responsibilities

As a Researcher Assistant, you will contribute to the daily operations of research projects under the close supervision of experienced researchers. This role involves performing standard research tasks, including sample processing, basic data analysis, and maintaining accurate records. Your support will be crucial in helping senior team members execute complex protocols and ensuring the smooth functioning of the lab. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Record, analyze, and collect research data.

  2. Assist in performing routine tests, setup, and preparation of laboratory experiments.

  3. Maintain lab equipment and a clean research environment.

  4. Receive and ship samples.

  5. Aid in editing and writing documents for grant proposals, data collection, and research protocol.

  6. Perform lab management tasks such as inventory, ordering, etc.

  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Hourly Range: $ 16.50- $ 21.00

Qualifications

Qualifications

Associate's degree in a related field OR High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

  • Proficiency using a personal computer and software for data analysis/presentation.

  • A background in biology.
