Assistant Director of Development – Medical Education
The University of Alabama at Birmingham

General Responsibilities:
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an Assistant Director of Development for the Heersink School of Medicine, Medical Education team. The primary responsibilities are to efficiently solicit and close a defined number of mid-level gifts (up to $25,000) within a specified timeframe in support of Medical Education in the Heersink School of Medicine. The Assistant Director will have intentional meetings with unqualified and/or qualified prospects to build and maintain a portfolio of mid-to-high net worth prospects. The incumbent will effectively collaborate with faculty, colleagues, and staff both within their unit and across campus to maximize philanthropic efforts.

This position will focus on the following priority areas:
• Undergraduate medical scholarships
• Faculty Support - working to generate endowed and current use funds to help recruit and retain leaders in medical education
• Curricula Innovations - working to generate philanthropic support of programs that keep medical education innovative, new, and cutting edge
• Support for Regional Medical Campuses - Huntsville Regional Medical Campus and Montgomery Regional Medical Campus coordinating efforts with the Regional Deans, and Senior Associate Dean of Medical Education.

This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Development II with Medical Education.

This position is full-time and hybrid-eligible after the probationary period.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Build and maintain a donor network of mid-level prospects and establish a portfolio of individuals with the capacity to make mid-level/major gifts
2. Work closely with the Senior Director of Development II and Director of Development to help build a pipeline of future mid and major donors
3. Execute fundraising strategies to raise mid-level gifts in support of the Heersink School of Medicine
4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Pay Range: $52,555 – $70,000

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.

Preferences:
• 3 years of fundraising or equivalent experience
• After-hours work and travel required

Preferred Additional Qualifications:
• Higher education or health care experience
• Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
• CRM
• HIPAA
