PATIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR I

General Responsibilities:
Responsible for coordinating certain aspects of clinical and administrative patient services. Serves as patient advocate. Answers patient inquiries verbally or in writing. Resolves patient problems. Disseminates information relating to clinic operations. Maintains patient records. Responsible for the conduct of patient scheduling, reception and other front office operations. May supervise clerical staff.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Serves as the primary point of contact for students and visitors within Student Health and Wellness. The role
2. Requires strong customer service, communication, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
3. Daily responsibilities include patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, answering phones and emails, processing payments, and maintaining accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance and professional patient experience.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly Pay Range: $15.00 – $16.59
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year office/clerical experience in customer service, call center, physician office or other clinical environment required. Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills; excellent customer service and communication skills required. Must: (1) Attend all required coursework assigned by management; (2) possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management; (3) be able to perform math & bookkeeping skills; (5) possess exceptional telephone & customer service skills; and (5) be knowledgeable of English grammar & punctuation. Business Office Education or similar coursework preferred.
Related experience includes, but is not limited to:
Experience in a physician's office, student health clinic, medical front desk, customer service, call center, healthcare administration, or other clinical support environments.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office procedures
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Professionalism, dependability, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff
