Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Biology, is recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Researcher to join their team.
General Responsibilities
As a Researcher, you will play a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. This professional-level position demands a high degree of expertise and judgement in designing studies, analyzing data, and may involve assistants in publishing findings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to grant writing and securing funding for future research. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Performs molecular genetics experiments with a high degree of expertise and independent judgement (e.g., DNA extractions, cell culture, single-cell RNA-seq).
Safe and responsible contact with animal-derived specimens.
Performs routine maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
Assists with purchase orders and fiscal tracking/management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $ 50,050- $ 81,330
Qualifications
Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field OR Bachelor's degree in related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required or High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Experience with molecular biology or genomics lab work (e.g., library prep, sequencing workflows)
Demonstrates genuine curiosity about biological questions and a commitment to continually improving their scientific abilities.
Skilled with analyzing experimental data and planning experimental designs
