PROGRAM DIRECTOR II

General Responsibilities:
Directs operations of a programmatic function. Operates with a high degree of independence. Responsible for program development, content and administration. Establishes program objectives, manages programmatic fiscal activities, supervises staff engaged in carrying out program activities and may require grant writing and/or other ability to secure program funding. Prepares various reports for program.
Support the Associate Dean for Research and Assistant Dean for Research on administrative and programmatic activities
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Maintaining the SOPH Office of Research email, calendars, file share system, surveys, Research Update documents to Departments, etc.
2. Preparing agendas for the SOPH Office of Research weekly meeting, Research Advisory Committee meetings, monthly meeting with the Dean, Office Enrichment Activities, etc.
3. Analyzing myUABResearch reports on submissions and awards, preparing reports, presentations, one-pagers, and other written products detailing the achievements of research metrics being tracked by the UAB Vice President for Research's Office and the School of Public Health per the Research and Discovery Pillar.
4. Developing and issuing the monthly Research Rambler newsletter and periodic Research Pit Stop emails.
5. Tracking research incentives and SOPH pilot award recipients.
6. Updating the SOPH-level facilities and other resource documents.
7. Regular communications with UAB Vice President for Research's Office, SOPH Leadership and Communications Office, including Department Chairs, Vice Chairs for Research, and staff involved in research and/or reporting faculty research achievements.
8. Event planning for symposiums, seminars, faculty and staff enrichment events, SOPH Research Poster Day, and training activities.
9. Assisting the Associate and Assistant Dean with one-on-one meetings with faculty (e.g., brainstorming, review of specific aims pages/summary statements.
10. Collaborating with Department Grant Administrative staff in large grant submission applications, as needed.
11. Training responsibilities include didactic (e.g., human subjects research, good clinical practice, and other career development trainings offered by the UAB Institutional Review Board and Office of Sponsored Projects) and hands-on training trainings relevant to administrative and programmatic duties assigned to this position.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Pay Range: $60,835 – $98,855
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
