Position Summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Department of Optometry & Vision Science, is in search of an experienced Researcher to join their team.

General Responsibilities

As a Researcher, you will play a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. This professional-level position demands a high degree of expertise and judgement in designing studies, analyzing data, and may involve assistants in publishing findings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to grant writing and securing funding for future research. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Provides technical veterinary support for complex research related tasks.

  2. Performs animal care, pre- and post-surgical monitoring and preparation.

  3. Assists with animal experiments as requested.

  4. Coordinates acquisition and purchase of laboratory/surgical consumable supplies, reagents, and pharmaceuticals.

  5. Assists with data collection and data analysis as requested.

  6. Participates in laboratory meetings.

  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $ 50,050- $ 81,330

Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field OR Bachelor's degree in related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required or High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
