STUDENT AFFAIRS SPECIALIST II

General Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, to coordinate administrative, personnel and logistical support for ongoing department programs or offices. To assist with budgeting, providing counseling, technical/topical training, collecting data, and coordinates all program components. To produce programs and activities for students. To mentor students. To collaborate with other university entities to produce programs for students and assist with educational outcomes for non-academic conduct situations. May have marketing duties. May supervise support staff.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate administrative, personnel, and logistical support.
2. Carries out established program objectives and directives.
3. Determines the best approach to accomplish assignments.
4. Communicates, using a variety of media, with internal and external constituencies.
5. Create, implement, and evaluate experiences and initiatives which engage off-campus students; create cross-departmental collaborative events, contributing to off-campus student holistic success inside and outside the classroom; plan events for off-campus students in their communities that foster off-campus connections and relationships; educate students on transitioning from on-campus to off-campus living; assist in promoting the mission and values of Office of Student and Family Engagement and the Division of Student Affairs.
6. Responsible for managing provided program budgets and providing supervision for student staff.
7. Creates, implements, and evaluates experiences and initiatives that engage off-campus students, increasing off-campus student retention, persistence, and sense of belonging.
8. Creates cross-departmental collaborative events, including academic partners, with the goal of contributing to off-campus student holistic success inside and outside the classroom
9. Plans and executes events for off-campus students in their off-campus communities to foster community connections and relationships.
10. Educates students on transitioning from on-campus to off-campus living.
11. Manages the Off-Campus Housing Website.
12. Creates and updates off-campus student educational materials, provided in the Off-Campus Student Lounge and across campus.
13. Plans and executes campus engagement opportunities for off-campus partners.
14. Advises components of two student organization(s), to include special population and off-campus organizations.
15. Conducts assessment and research on trends and best practices related to off-campus living and engagement.
16. Works collaboratively with units throughout the University and serves on various departmental committees.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Pay Range: $35,570 – $42,000
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Sciences or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences:
• Master's degree with a concentration in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Leadership or a related field.
• Exemplary organizational skills with a strong emphasis on details.
• Experience in planning programs and events.
• Ability to present workshops and training sessions that address harm reduction, membership recruitment, organization management, and event planning.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Evening and weekend work may be required throughout the year.
• Strong computer skills using Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Engage platform.
