The Director of Communications provides strategic leadership for the Office of the Provost, develops and oversees comprehensive communication plans, manages budgets and resources, and serves as a senior advisor to executive leadership. This role ensures that communications advance both unit and institutional priorities, maintain brand integrity, and achieve measurable outcomes across audiences and platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees the production of high-quality, multi-channel content, ensuring messaging is consistent, strategic, and accessible.
Leads the content strategy and production of content for multiple channels that may include web, email, social media, video, newsletters, and print publications.
Defines performance metrics and goals for communication initiatives, uses data to evaluate effectiveness and inform decision-making and strategy.
Directs large-scale communication initiatives, allocates resources effectively, and manages complex budgets and priorities.
Advises senior leadership on communication opportunities and challenges; collaborates with institutional partners to ensure alignment and amplification of messaging. Represents the unit in institution-wide discussions and planning.
Provides vision and direction for communications within the unit, ensuring strategies support institutional goals, brand standards, and long-term reputation building. Manages staff or interns as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.

(Annual Salary: $94,375 - $153,355)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field, and ten (10) years of related experience required. Advanced degree preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
