Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Pulmonary/Allergy/Critical Care, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I.
General Responsibilities
To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.
To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.
To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Collects and records preliminary data for clinical research programs.
Recruits and performs follow-up visits and phone calls with research participants as protocols outline.
Schedules visits according to research protocols.
Assists in the coordination of lab and fieldwork.
Prepares for study monitoring visits.
Assists with correcting findings.
Assists with the completion of Case Report Forms (CRF) according to protocol.
Assists with the development of protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data quality assurance.
Performs general clerical duties (faxing, scanning, routing messages, coordinating the purchase of supplies/materials).
May perform a variety of medical procedures under supervision. May assist in compiling, editing, and proofreading written reports for both internal and external administrative offices.
Uses Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems necessary for operations under supervision.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range: $43,890 - $57,055
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
Any health science or health professional degree.
Ability to follow established regulations, procedures, and protocols.
Demonstrated ability to gather data and document procedures.
Demonstrated ability to plan work.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Willingness and desire to function as a clinical research coordinator.
Willing to gain knowledge of UAB-specific portals such as REDCap, Oncore, and Greenphire.
Willingness to learn clinical skills such as phlebotomy, obtaining vital signs, and Pulmonary Function Testing are desirable.
