ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-CAREER CENTER
The University of Alabama at Birmingham

General Responsibilities:
To oversee career enhancement/professional development services and programs for all students, alumni, and prospective students. Professional development programs include: career consulting individually and in groups, career education seminars, experiential learning programs, outreach events, career development for credit courses, career resources, and other similar career development programs and services. To work with the Career Service Management System (CSM) to establish and facilitate students’ accomplishment of career learning objectives. To develop collaborative relationships with internal/external constituents creating more awareness of career development and its impact on student development and employability. To promote mission and contribution to UAB’s Strategic Plan, as well as providing exemplary customer service to all constituents.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provides career development and job/internship search assistance to UAB students.
2. Develops collaborative relationships with internal and external constituents, creating awareness of career development and its impact on students' development and employability.
3. Develops and coordinates career education workshops, special events and outreach programs, addressing developmental and experiential learning methods which lead to solid career awareness and knowledge.
4. Coordinates and teaches credit courses covering career decision-making and job search strategies, as well as career planning.
5. Maintains career support materials, including assessments, professional development resources and any other related materials and/or equipment utilizing emerging technologies for online and on campus students.
6. Identifies, proposes and develops emerging technologies and other resources to meet the needs of the entire UAB student population at the appropriate stage of career development.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Pay Range: $49,000 – $55,000

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Knowledge of career services, recruitment, student development, or student services is highly desired
• Ability to work effectively with a broad range of internal and external constituents, building relationships, communicating effectively, thinking critically to find solutions to potential problems and planning and organizing one's own work
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with career and professional development team and with faculty, administration, employers, and students
