Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, General Surg Gastrointestinal Section, is seeking a dedicated Researcher Associate to join their team. This position is required to perform benchwork (post operative pain research), which includes preparing samples for pain focused study examinations and assisting the lab manager with additional specialized and scientific research in the lab. While supporting students with resources for manuscript scripts and publications. This role will also monitor study protocols, recruitment and screening of candidates for studies and report findings and outcomes.
As a Researcher Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to the advancement of research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Assisting the Lab Manager with maintaining the lab recruitment, and advertising for activity taking place in the lab.
Overseeing pilot projects for the lab involving in depth studies in the areas of Rest and Recovery and Ulcerative Colitis study in support of the lab goals.
Assisting the Lab Manager and Principle Investigator in developing grant proposals as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Hourly Range: $ 19.80- $ 25.75
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Prior work in a laboratory with performing research work, along with ability to prepare and review IRB documents is preferred
