Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a PROGRAM COORDINATOR II to work under minimal supervision, coordinates administrative, personnel and logistical support for a defined department program (s), often of a large and/or complex nature. Carries out established program objectives and directives. Follows established guidelines or protocols. Determines the best approach to accomplish assignments. May participate in program planning and in setting program objectives. May supervise support staff. May act as a communication liaison and special events planner. Interfaces with outside resources such as volunteers, alumni, patients, other professionals in a defined field or with continuing education students. May be responsible for adherence to program budget and/or other fiscal duties. May assist with grant and contract preparation and submission. May handle data management.
A Program Coordinator dedicated to Denial Management would: Coordinate all denial follow-up activities, ensuring standardized workflows across clinics and administrative units. Analyze denial trends to identify systemic issues and collaborate with clinical and billing teams on corrective action. Oversee appeal processes, ensuring timely submission and compliance with payer requirements. Maintain accurate reporting, enabling leadership to make informed decisions regarding payer relations and operational improvements. Reduce preventable denials within the first year through proactive process management. Improve reimbursement turnaround times, contributing to more stable cash flow and reduced month-end backlog. Assist with training.
(Hourly Rate: $18.35 - $29.80)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
Expertise in medical and dental insurance billing (Medicaid, Medicare, commercial payors) CPT, CDT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding familiarity, Knowledge of EOBs/ERAs and denial codes, Understanding of coordination of benefits (COB), Knowledge of timely filing limits and appeal deadlines, Familiarity with payer-specific policies and clinical documentation requirements.
