General Responsibilities:
• Experience in community engagement, program coordination, project management, or related work.

• Ability to facilitate meetings, interpret group dynamics, and manage conflict professionally. Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills, including the ability to create and maintain structured project management systems.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple projects, and provide timely updates and reports.
• Demonstrated reliability, accountability, sound judgment, and professional follow-through. - Ability to represent UAB, research investigators, and the Center with professionalism, executive presence, and cultural sensitivity.
• Ability and willingness to learn and perform administrative responsibilities such as processing contracts, invoices, reimbursements, and event logistics.
• Experience working in academic, nonprofit, community-based, or public health environments.
• Experience collaborating with research investigators or supporting grant-funded programs.
• Knowledge of community health, health equity, or public health principles.
• Experience in coalition development, conflict resolution, meeting facilitation, or stakeholder engagement.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Manages, coordinates, and supports community engagement activities for multiple research and grant-funded projects within the Comprehensive Healthy Living Research Center.
2. Builds and maintains partnerships with key community stakeholders, including faith-based organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, healthcare entities, government officials, businesses, media partners, and lay community members.
3. Represents the Center and research investigators at community meetings, advisory boards, coalition gatherings, and public events with professionalism, discretion, and cultural awareness.
4. Facilitates meetings and discussions; interprets group dynamics; manages conflict constructively; and ensures that engagement remains respectful, community-centered, and aligned with project goals.
5. Communicates complex research concepts in plain, accessible language and provides timely, accurate updates to researchers, supervisors, and community partners.
6. Prepares and delivers professional reports, presentations, agendas, and written correspondence.
7. Independently plans and executes community meetings, events, and program activities, including scheduling, communication, logistics, and day-of coordination.
8. Ensures full compliance with UAB policies and procedures related to pre-approvals, contracts, invoices, reimbursements, vendor processes, and financial documentation.
9. Maintains organized project records, meeting notes, communication logs, and reports related to grant deliverables.
10. Develops and maintains structured systems to manage multiple projects, monitor timelines, track deliverables, and ensure efficient workflow.
11. Demonstrates exceptional follow-up, follow-through, and accountability. Provides consistent, professional representation of research investigators and supports the successful implementation of community-based research initiatives.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Pay Range: $51,270 – $83,330

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
