Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Cell, Developmental, & Integrative Biology, is looking for an experienced Researcher Associate to join their team. As a Research Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to the advancement of research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens. This person will be responsible for maintaining a portion of the lab's mouse colony which includes basic animal husbandry (setting up and checking matings, genotyping and weaning mice). This person would also be responsible for basic cell and molecular biology including cell culture and plasmid cloning. General technician duties would include dish washing and autoclaving, maintaining lab stocks and inventories, and assisting graduate students and postdocs in the lab as needed. Once trained this person may also be given their own project to focus on that will help answer questions asked in the grants awarded to the lab.

Hourly Range: $19.80 - $21.00
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Degree in Biological Science preferred.
Previous experience with handling mice would be preferred
