Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an EAP Crisis Response & Care Coordinator temp to serve as the primary on-call crisis counselor during regular business hours. Responsibilities include crisis counseling, emergency support, risk assessments, critical incident support and coordination of care. To facilitate emergency psychiatric referrals. To provision daily intakes, group counseling support, after-hours on-call schedule rotation and other duties as assigned.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Provides crisis assessment, intervention and support to employees and immediate household members.
2. Answers emergency and urgent phone calls from supervisors, department managers and individuals asking for immediate assistance and determine next steps and/or intervention.
3. Makes decisions along with EACC director and/or clinical coordinator regarding access to care counseling and/or refer to the appropriate community resources based on client’s presenting issues.
4. Works with supervisors and educates them on the appropriate pathways of emergency support for employees with suicidal ideations including the Psychiatric Evaluation Intake Form.
5. Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with department policies, ethical standards and applicable laws and regulations.
6. Stays current with best practices in crisis intervention, care coordination and support through continuing education and professional development.
7. Provides on-call after-hours rotation coverage.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work or other related human services fields required and three (3) years of related experience required handling mental health emergencies, crisis intervention and/or critical incidents. Work experience may NOT be substitute for education requirement.
Currently licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling (ABEC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or other current related license at master's level or higher required. Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) and/or National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors preferred. Must obtain certification as a Board Certified - Tele-Mental Health Provider (BC-TMH) within two (2) years of starting employment. All Life Coaches must possess the Board-Certified Coach (BCC) credential or equivalent certification that has been approved by the International Coaching Federation.
