Position Summary
The Human Resources Partner Generalist Senior within the Human Resources Shared Services (HRSS) team will support the Clinical Research Support Enterprise (CReSt). Independently managing HR services within UAB, the HRP Generalist Senior provides strategic human resources advisement while fostering collaboration with HRSS and department leadership. This role serves as the primary contact for HR-related matters including employment, compensation, employee relations, international recruitment and retention, organizational planning, training and development, and onboarding.
HR Shared Services supports a diverse range of departments, centers, and institutes, focusing on operational effectiveness and strategic HR partnerships. Employees in HRSS must navigate distinctly different cultures and business needs, requiting a high level of adaptability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This senior level position is an opportunity to learn the HR and business nuances of all departments supported by HRSS and is responsible for cross coverage.
The incumbent partners closely with the Office of Human Resources and/or Dean’s Office to ensure compliance with institutional policies and practices while advancing UAB’s mission and shared values. The Senior HR Partner serves as a trusted resource and advisor to leadership and may supervise or mentor lower-level HR staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage and oversee human resources services for assigned division(s), department(s), or school(s).
· Serve as a strategic advisor and primary point of contact for HR matters across employment, compensation, employee relations, organizational planning, and training.
· Provide consultative guidance to supervisors and managers on performance management, employee relations, and corrective action, in collaboration with Talent Performance & Relations.
· Interpret and ensure compliance with institutional HR policies, federal and state employment laws, and best practices.
· Partner with HR Central, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, and Records Administration to support hiring, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
· Support the development and implementation of departmental and institutional HR policies and procedures.
· Promote UAB’s values of Collaboration, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence in all interactions.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
· Experience: Seven (7) years of related human resources experience.
· Substitutions: Work experience may not substitute for the required education.

· Demonstrated leadership and decision-making ability.
· Proven experience in employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
· Clinical Research experience preferred
