Position Overview

Pay range: $46,530 - $75,615 / year

Shifts: Monday - Friday

Schedules: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Job Highlights

The Supervising Technician for Infusion Authorizations is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of our specialty infusion authorization services (including: performing benefits investigation, obtaining prior authorization approvals/Pre-certification, coordinating insurance benefits, coordinating financial assistance for medications, and other patient-focused tasks).
  • Working together with other leaders on the specialty pharmacy and ambulatory teams to achieve departmental goals.
  • Providing coverage in the PCC infusion schedule as a floater.
  • Promoting positive patient outcomes through ongoing patient and pharmacy communication.
  • Working together with UAB billing services to ensure patients are accurately billed for services received.
  • Coordinating recruitment and training for new hires in the department.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) License
  • One (1) Year of Patient Care Coordinator (Patient Accounts Representative) Experience

Desirable Traits Include:

  • Medical billing experience
  • Leadership experience

Job Description

To supervise pharmacy technician staff including, but not limited to, scheduling, training, evaluating and disciplining. To provide recommendation to manager regarding staff selection, promotion and termination. To perform supply and medication inventory control functions.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently registered or eligible to be registered as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern/extern by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required. Active registration will be required prior to date of hire.
