Materials Procurement Spec/Exped (Facilities -Finance Department)

Description
To perform a wide variety of tasks relating to the purchase and expediting of maintenance and
construction materials for use throughout UAB facilities. To work with vendors, UAB Purchasing
departmental supervisors and support personnel to meet specific standards for product quality, price,
availability, and delivery time frames. To review and analyze purchase request trends and propose
recommendations to promote strategic sourcing. To monitor computerized inventory control system to
ensure accurate processing of stock and non-stock purchases. To work independently and as part of a
team to ensure timely service to customers. To perform the duties and responsibilities of other positions
within the Facilities Division as skills and experiences permit.
Starting Pay Range: $17.95 – $27.43/hour (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field and three (3) years of related experience. Work
experience may substitute for education requirement.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:
Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Interacts directly with both the TMA system and Oracle to prepare payment and Purchase Order
requests as needed. Reconciles TMA receipts to Oracle POs to ensure the systems remain in
balance and the transactions complete.
- Maintains constructive and supportive relationships with vendors and internal customers in order to provide quality products and services. Provides purchasing guidance to departments, resolves
issues, and investigates new and alternative products.
- Purchases goods and services for the Division. Uses professional judgement to determine if the requested items must be competitively bid and works with UAB Central Procurement and the
requestor to compile and refine the specifications, research potential suppliers, and prepare
appropriate documentation.
- Manages and provides guidance to all Departments on the appropriate uses of the new P-Card.
Performs the monthly reconcilement and resolves all variances.
- Supports the team by consistently adhering to the established process and reviewing for ways to
improve and streamline.
- Reviews and analyzes purchase request trends and proposes recommendations to promote
strategic sourcing. Analyzes procurement decisions for focus on sustainability, in accordance with
the department's overall goal.
- Works closely with Warehouse staff to ensure orders are properly entered and received into stock.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical:
Required to possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities that require performing tasks requiring staring and sitting at a computer screen for long periods of time, lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, walking significant distances between and within buildings, and climbing stairs.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 7:00AM – 5:00PM (Subject to change to accommodate the needs of the University)
