Job Description:
To manage admitting services by developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive admissions program. To work with medical/clinical staff and other departments to ensure customer satisfaction for patient access.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Supervises the daily patient access/registration activities for bedded outpatient/ambulatory, pre-registration, and emergency room.
2. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality assurance of all registrations for correct demographics, insurance information, necessary authorizations and timely billing.
3. Monitor patient flow and staffing to ensure timely and efficient service.
4. Manages human resources functions for the area, including but not limited to, staff selection, training, scheduling, evaluating and disciplining.
5. Recommends, establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with UAB Hospital policies and procedures as well as all applicable external agencies.
6. Develops annual budget consistent with departmental goals, monitors expenditures throughout the fiscal year.
7. Resolves issues relative to the admission process. Interacts with appropriate nursing personnel and physicians to resolve issues and gather feedback. Works proactively to improve processes and systems.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Five (5) years of related experience and supervisory experience required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
